Fourth Street Gift Shop and Gallery is one of the parts of West Branch Creative Arts Association which was established in 1972.
By being a positive force in our community we strive to promote the education and encouragement of creative talents and support appreciation of the arts.
Thanks to dedicated members and volunteers the association has been active in community projects such as parades, Irons Park improvements, college scholarship funding and contributions to various community organizations since its founding in 1972. New members and volunteers are always welcome.
Fourth Street Gift Shop and Gallery is the outlet where our members can display and sell their work. We feature high quality hand crafted items and fine artwork. Among the handcrafted items offered for sale are wood, fabric and fiber, glass, pottery, paper and jewelry, all created by our WBCAA members. The fine arts gallery features a selection of original artwork and prints in oils, acrylics, watercolors and photography as well as wood and metal sculptures. All members of WBCAA maintain and operate the building and business.
WBCAA is the proud sponsor of the following:
YOUTH ART SHOW - Started in 1982 it is open to area students in grades K-12. It provides students an opportunity to show their creative talents to the community. The show is held each spring in the 4th Street Gallery.
WBCAA FINE ART SHOW - Begun in 1976, this show is open to the public and is held in the 4th Street Gallery late June and early July. Entries consist of paintings, photography, and 3D art. Each year has a new theme and awards are given based on the decisions of a guest juror.
THE VICTORIAN ART FAIR - Held in beautiful Irons Park since 1979. This Victorian themed fair consists of family entertainment, games, music, and over 200 juried fine arts and craft vendors. It is held every year on the second full weekend of August.
WEST BRANCH QUILT WALK - Since 1985 local quilters have displayed their beautiful quilts within the 4th Street Gallery, Library, and various downtown businesses. Each year a quilt is raffled off with all the proceeds going to a charity. Look for it in early October.
HIGH SCHOOL ART SCHOLARSHIP - Founded in 1981 in memory of Danny Conners and Bernie Banghart. Each were instrumental in the beginning of our WBCAA. Our scholarship is available for any area high school senior who is entering college to study in any field of art. The application for recipients can be found here: https://www.wbrc.k12.mi.us/our-district/esp---educational-support-partnership . Applications are due the end of mid- April.
ART & WINE WALK - We support other businesses in our downtown by hosting a featured artist for the West Branch Art and Wine Walks that are held in late April or early May and early December.
